Maine: Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment Now Underway

PORTLAND — Affordable Care Act (ACA) Open Enrollment runs from November 1st through Dec. 15 and is the only opportunity each year to review and make changes to your Health Insurance Marketplace plan coverage for 2018.

AARP Maine is encouraging all Mainers who do not have health care coverage through their job or a government program, such as Medicare or Medicaid, to review their coverage during the six weeks of ACA Open Enrollment.

“Mainers need to know that health care coverage is still available through the ACA/ Health Insurance Marketplace and ACA Open Enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to compare plans to find one that best meets your needs at a price that’s right for you,” said Lori Parham, AARP Maine State Director. “Coverage and cost can vary widely between plans so it is important to review your options carefully before plans go into effect in 2018.”Premiums can vary from year to year and it is considered good practice to explore plan options during Open Enrollment to ensure the best coverage at the lowest affordable price. AARP Maine strongly recommends that Mainers consider their coverage carefully, compare their current plan with other available plans, and change to a different plan during Open Enrollment if it better meets their current needs.
